Got an email from Lord & Taylor advertising their 50% off coats sale so I had to pop this post up before it was too late. Sale ends tonight (10/14) at midnight. Get shopping! :) MK Asymmetrical Zip Walker Coat, $150 I like it in navy. The asymmetrical zipper adds interest and makes it more trendy.
Ralph Lauren, Knit Collared Pea Coat $175 Nothing beats a man in a pea coat. Love the button detail on the shoulder. Husband, if you're reading this, you should treat yourself. Buy this.

Dark blues, grays, reds, garnet, aubergine, metallics, and black and white, these are of the colors of the fall 2014 season.
White pumps - I've wanted a pair forever and I think we will be seeing a lot of winter whites and neutrals this season so they'd come in handy. I'm saving up for these...

Over the knee boots - Not just for Pretty Women anymore, these are edgy and sultry if done correctly. Keep everything else toned down and covered up.
Topshop Unique Boots , $314. My favorite blogger wore them to fashion week and I think they are quite stunning. (Check out my other favorite bloggers on the 'Check It' tab up top).
Fine Knit Sweater $24.95 Comfy and cozy. I'm trying to work on accessorizing lately so I've been interested in plainer items that I can add interest to with jewelry, shoes and bags.

Boucle-yarn Jacket $39.95 Always classy, boucle jackets dress up any outfit in an instant. Pair with a silk shirt or a graphic tee and jeans to keep warm and add interest to your outfit.

{Piperlime} Gilberta Pump $180.00 Schutz heels - Reasonably priced, reminiscent of Manolos, I'm adoring their shoes. Classic and hopefully comfortable (!) these are on my wish list. I love the Burgundy Nubuck and Deep Ocean colors. (The color pictured below is the Scarlet Nubuck.)
Kelly Wearstler Sima Ring $150.00 A thicker band than I'd normally choose, but with its ridging and sparkle I just can't help myself.

{Lulus} Navy Sweater $49 Another cozy sweater waiting to be accessorized. There's nothing I love more than curling up in a big warm sweater in the middle of winter.
{Aldo} Cervarezza, $90 Love that these have a lower heel.

{Target} Xhiliration Black Quilted Skirt, $17.99 I totally owned a million of these skirts back in the '90s, but alas, here they are. They happen to be flattering to my body type so I can't say I'm upset that they're back. But I tried this one on and definitely felt 12 again...

Oversized Plaid Scarf $16.99 Looks just like the Zara one from last season (that I never bought!) but at $16.99 you cannot let this one slip by. Really, I mean it. I didn't.

{Express} Faux Fur Trimmed Puffer Coat, $158 I went on a purge-the-house binge last winter and got rid of my warm puffer coat. Now I see the winter looming and totally regret that decision. I'm looking to get this one.

Textured Cocoon Coat, $208 Also in the 'Purge of 2013' I got rid of my favorite pink wool coat. I'll have to re-buy that too! H&M has a cheaper version for $60, here.

Somehow each week I vow to blog more than just my ...from the web Fridays post. However, each week slips by and all those well-intentioned interesting and meaningful blog post ideas fall by the wayside. So I'm apologizing. You guys deserve more. I'm going to keep on trying and hopefully we will make some progress at some point. Until then, (sheepish shrug) here are the links you've been waiting for. They arrive like beacons in the night, begging you to explore the internet. Leave Outlook and enter, the web. Pretend you're doing work. Give your mind a break. Learn trivial things you'll never need to know. {Undetectable Engagement Ring Box} Not a bad idea. But I'm not sure the marketing will reach the target audience. I mean, I found it, not my husband...

{Woman Returns People's Litter to Them} She sets off to teach strangers a lesson about littering: don't do it or it will come back to bite you. In theory, I like the idea, although somewhat vigilante. The video however, seems somewhat contrived. You mean to tell me no one has exited his car in an attempt to physically harm, or at the very least cuss out, this woman? Maybe it's because it's filmed in LA...

{New Gatorade Ad} I know I've posted on him before, but Jeter's last game is quickly approaching and this is, by far, a better commercial than the last one. Get your tissues ready.

{Best Pools} I'm a beach girl through and through, but honestly I'd never turn down a good swim in a quirky pool. There's a red one, it freaks me out a bit. Here are my top five, er six (I couldn't pick only five, so shoot me)
Um, watch elephants and swim right next to them? Get yourself to Tanzania.

A pool inside of another pool? I'd swim laps on vacation for that. Yes, please. Gotta go all the way to Fiji for this one.

This pool is spec-tac-u-lar. Dive right in from the comfort of your room. And tell me that isn't the most gorgeous hotel ever... India, you impress me.

A little closer to home, this Dallas hotel lets you swim over the city. Literally. Warning: not for the faint of heart.

Night swimming is the best, especially if you're in the Maldives (my dream destination), and especially if the pool twinkles in light.

Afraid of heights? This may not be your cup of tea, but this Singapore hotel pool gives you a unique look at the city. And is huge. Looks lovely and inviting if you ask me.

And lastly, but certainly not least...
Love that this pool combines art and architecture, placing a glass staircase that leads to the hotel in the middle of the pool. It's a cultured pool. Thank you, Fort Lauderdale.

{Chocolate Chip Cookie Perfection} I've been (unconsciously) looking for this all my life! I'm totally gonna test this out because I really want fluffy cookies but I always wind up with flat cookies. I know, first world problems.

{SITC: Things You Never Knew} We all love(d) the show, and some of these things I already knew. But I still love reading them nonetheless.

{Resume Mistakes to Avoid} I've been telling my students this for ages. Searching for a job can be daunting for both employee and employer. The employer has so many fish in the sea from whom to choose. Do it right, get a bite. (See what I did there? Bite! Too cheesy??? *wink)

Enjoy this beautiful fall weekend my lovelies! ~And that, my friends, is worth a glass of champagne.~
In light of honoring September 11th yesterday and it being the 200th anniversary of the Star Spangled Banner, (if you're near Baltimore, check out the events for the weekend here) I've decided to post more intellectually stimulating articles today, rather than the pop culture mish-mosh that I normally post. {Stephen King Teaches Writing}"Always ask the student writer, 'What do you want to say?' Every sentence that answers that question is part of the essay or story. Every sentence that does not needs to go." Great advice from a great writer. I hope my students listened to me when I tried to teach them this. If not, listen to Stephen King. He's a big deal.

{Pay with your smartphone} I can't wait to do this. Juggling two kids and a cute purse is hard enough. I'd love to be able to pay for stuff with just my phone.
{Cable TV is here to stay. Bummer.}I still don't understand why tv can't be free over the internet. That's what I'm waiting for. We recently got rid of our cable and we are surviving off of Netflix, DVDs and watching things on the internet. Exisiting without cable television is really not so bad. I actually don't miss it at all, and I definitely get more done. I'm enjoying the silence of it all. We just started Orange is the New Black - loving it so far.

Since my fall fashion blog post is coming up soon, I thought I'd leave you with one about NY Fashion Week. {NYFW: Kors and de la Renta}Love both of these designers, although I'll say I love Kors' shoes and watches more than his handbags or clothing. And Oscar de la Renta? I mean, c'mon. You can't argue with his classic feminine, yet stylish pieces. I'd love to own one of his dresses someday. There's this green and white floral number from last season....
